Decreased mobility skills and mood
Relatively little is still known about the effects of CBD (cannabidiol) in combination with alcohol. Both substances can affect cognitive and motor functions and can influence each other in different ways. In this text we will look at some recent studies and discuss what is currently known about the effects of CBD in combination with alcohol.
A 2019 study published in Psychopharmacology examined the effects of CBD and alcohol on psychomotor performance in humans. In this study, participants received either alcohol alone, CBD alone, a combination of CBD and alcohol, or a placebo. The results showed that the combination of CBD and alcohol caused impaired psychomotor performance compared to alcohol alone. This suggests that CBD does not cancel out the negative effect of alcohol on psychomotor performance, but rather amplifies it. In addition, it appears that the combination of CBD and alcohol has a greater effect on psychomotor performance than either substance alone.
Another 2020 study published in the Journal of Psychopharmacology examined the effects of CBD and alcohol on mood in humans. In this study, participants received either alcohol alone, CBD alone, a combination of CBD and alcohol, or a placebo. The results showed that the combination of CBD and alcohol increased subjective intoxication compared to alcohol alone. This suggests that CBD enhances the effect of alcohol on mood.
However, it is important to note that these studies only have small sample sizes and are not necessarily generalizable to the entire population. In addition, few studies have been conducted on the effects of CBD and alcohol in combination, and more research is needed to further confirm and substantiate the findings.
